The weather gods were nice to us Easter Sunday. After a cold, foggy, and drizzly Saturday, we had a warm-ish, but breezy Sunday. Good thing we had gone to IKEA Saturday to pick up some new outdoor furniture! The family came over and we had a great Easter Sunday BBQ! After we ate, we sat the baby girls on the lawn for an Easter egg “hunt”. Kadybug, who is almost 16 months, was able to pick up the eggs and put them in her basket. Then take them out, then put them back in, and so on. Mads, on the other hand, picked up one egg, and just kinda shook it to make noise. It was too cute!
T-minus 14 days…
…until vacation. Our friends, B + L are already there. Check out their blog for some great pix! Reading their blog makes me want to be there now! Still have no real set itinerary for our side vacation to Ireland, have the first night’s lodging and the last, and we’ll probably make it along as we go.
Neighbors, gotta love them, again…
So, the park/playground down the street from us is under major renovation and is set to open in a month or so. The local community groups have started organizing planning meetings, starting tonight. The “discussion” between dog peeps and the anti-dog peeps is starting to get nasty. For example, flyers that have been posted announcing the meeting have been ripped down in places. Someone, ahem, took the time to write on the paper that was still attached to the lamp post “Dog owners – stop ripping these announcements down”. Instead of cleaning it up or posting a new flyer, this person took the time to leave a note! Hello?! It makes me so upset that people can be so intolerant…especially in San Francisco. The local dog group isn’t asking for much, it’s been suggested that timed-use of the field be introduced. In Santa Cruz, dogs are allowed on the beach, off leash during certain hours, like 6a-8a and then again 6p-8p. What kids are at the park at this time anyways? Well, the other than the kids that have brought their dogs to the park? And the anti-dog contingency is against even that proposal! They’re not open to compromise one bit.
Issues like this I’m starting to realize what a stodgy and stick-in-the-mud neighborhood we live in. Now that Mollie Stone’s has taken over Tower Market, people are complaining about the increased garbage…one woman’s been complaining that of all lawns, dogs tend to do their #1 on her lawn. She’s gone so far to set up a video camera and record and count all the dogs that come by to her lawn. 83 in a give day, I believe she said. A video camera, seriously? Umm, someone’s got a tad bit of time on her hands, don’t you think. Then there’s the flower thief. In the wee hours of the morning, someone’s been driving by homes and chopping off flowers from people’s front yards. It’s been alleged that a local flower shop is the culprit. Oy. Then…there’s an “empty lot” in the ‘hood. Empty lot meaning mostly rock cliff overgrown with weeds. Someone’s complaining that people and pets are dumping too much trash there that kids aren’t able to explore. Yah, take away the trash, I probably still wouldn’t let my kid “explore”. I wouldn’t even let my dog in there.
And here I am complaining about the complainers. Mayor McHottie wants to know why families leave SF? All this complaining on relatively insignificant issues? Reason enough?
Eh, anyways…y’all don’t come here to hear me rant…you want to hear that Mads’ has cut in her bottom two teeth and has started crawling, or something along those lines. Well, she has cut in her two bottom teeth and has made big improvements in the self-mobility department. 🙂
