Yesterday I was on the phone with my friend Dani. We were chatting and I mentioned that Sylvain and I are heading over to France for the winter holidays. The conversation went a little something like this…
D: Is it your soonest trip? No wait, that doesn’t sound right.
K: Right. I know what you mean. It’ll be our most soonest trip to France? Most soonest, that doesn’t sound correct either.
D: Geez, what’s the word for that?
K: Our most upcoming trip? Just an upcoming trip?…
Grammar issues from two UCSD graduates. Maybe we should have studied English? ;o)
Yes, we are planning to celebrate Xmas and the such at Chez Rebaud. I hear good things about the holidays in France – maybe “Manou”, his paternal grandmother, can give me tips on how to improve on my buche du noel. Am not sure if we’ll be there for New Year’s – but if you have nothing better to do, come join us! How fun would that be?!
If you’re in the mood for a wacky, original, non-computer animated movie, see Sylvain Chomet’s Les Triplettes de Belleville. The plot seems a bit odd: a Tour de France cyclist is kidnapped and it is up to his clubfooted grandmother and their dog, Bruno, to rescue him.
Happy weekend!
