The tree is up and the house lights are on – yup we got xmas house lights this year!
Needless to say I’ve had my hands full now that the holidays are here. Surprising huh?
Mads is now 3 1/2 months! Does time fly or what? She can now roll onto her side, onto her tummy (unintentionally), grab her feet (she tries to put them in her mouth, not quite there yet), sucking on fingers, thumbs, grabbing at toys and vocalizing…a lot. We’ve got a chatty cathy on our hands folks. I know that this time was going to go quickly, but not THIS quickly.
So, I will be returning to work this coming February. We found a great little French-speaking family day care (with availability, at that)! Part French grany, part drill sergeant, I think this day care will be great for Mads (and for S & I). Sniff, sniff.
Now with Madison in our lives, things are different. Just the little things – no more quick trips to the grocery store (have I ranted about this already?)…S & I may be the adults (or so we think), but it’s this little one that runs the show. (Not to forget about Lucie – but it’s easier [and acceptable] to leave your dog at home to run to the store to get some milk.) I’ve been trying to get her into a routine (not a schedule), it’s kinda working but her night sleep patterns are still so unpredictable – she was doing fine until last night when she awoke at 5.15a wanting to eat.
On a more solemn note…
My heart and thoughts are with the Kim family right now. Not sure if you’ve heard about the CNET editor and his family that got stuck in the Oregon wilderness for a week! Basically, their car got stuck in the snow, after burning the car’s tires to keep his family warm, James Kim left them to search for help. Two days after he left, rescue teams found his wife and two daughters (ages 4 and 7 months – mom had kept them fed with breastmilk!). Sadly, their papa didn’t make it. He was found 1/2 mile from the car. Very sad, especially before Xmas.
CityMama (one of my fave blogs to read) pays a nice tribute to James Kim here. Can I please stop tearing up everytime I read about this, now?
