Random bits of life

I celebrated my 28th birthday this past weekend. It was the nicest little fete. (It didn’t live up to a pajama jammy jam – it was way too HOT to stay in one’s jammies.)

As usual, too much food: pancakes, crepes, blueberry coffee cake, monkey bread, strawberry mousse cake and champagne!

I received some nice and nifty gifts. I did finally get my pink VonDutch hat. (yay!) What Sylvain had to go through to get it – I’d better be wearing it 24/7.

Sylvain and I spent that afternoon looking at homes (to buy). Driving through Bernal Heights we stumbled across our old apartment on York Street to find that Thelma had put the building up for sale. About $1M for the building or $525K for the bottom unit and $725K for the top. Crazy prices, but great views and great weather (and a nice solid bedrock foundation). We found our dream home near Mt. Davidson, but just outside of our price range. Bummer. Another home near Sutro Tower seemed nice. However, the current owner is an avid collector of practically everything and anything, so it was difficult to visualize the house as ours. (The selling agent had noted that the owner had packed most of her collectibles too! So you can imagine.) We asked the agent questions regarding health & safety issues, with the tower practically in the back yard, but no cases of cancer and pretty stable during earthquakes. Which is a good thing.

Do you have any idea what we’ll be doing next Sunday? (Saturday is Yoli & Craig’s wedding.)
