Random bits of life

Here I am breaking my own rule to finally, finally blog. It’s 10p, Friday night and I’m blogging from bed while “watching” a Disney flick with The Husband and Peanut. Please don’t ask me why Peanut is up this late, I really don’t know. (sigh…)

I hate to admit that work has been keeping me pretty busy. I am not sure if I mentioned it earlier, but I started a new job 6 months ago. Same company, different department. The job is drastically different, my stress level is up, I barely make it out to lunch, but I am much happier.

(Peanut, unfortunately, is not ready for movies, so we’ve now switched to Baly – Disney Playhouse France.)

So my job has me in the “new” building on campus complete with a “new” fitness center.

I had started taking the total body fitness class every Tuesday and Thursday at lunch back in January, to complement the running regime I was starting over….again. I knew the class was serious because everyone had to go through an fitness/health assessment before they could start. A tape measure, calipers, a VO2 test, and a pathetic attempt at a pull-up I started class.

After a couple classes in, the trainer suggested I schedule some 1:1 time to work on form, reach my goals quicker, blah, blah. After days of nagging, I was finally suckered in signed up for 1:1 personal training. So, here I am 4 weeks into my personal training sessions and am loving it! I really never thought I’d enjoy getting my ass handed to me on a silver platter, but I am, and it’s paying off! I was (partially) reassessed a few days ago and the measurements were smaller than what they were 4-6 weeks ago. Wahoo!

To quote the brilliant Elle Woods, “Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy.” Here I am, addicted to endorphins.
