Here’s Mads rockin’ her True Religion jeans – no I did not buy these for her, I don’t even own a pair of True Religions! – and her new blue initial tee from here. (With banana in hand.)
(sorry for the sucky pix, I’ll have to figure out what happened…read: have my techy-husband figure out what I did wrong ;o) fixed 3.18.08
Happy Holiday weekend y’all – we’re off to a winter wonderland!
So, it turns out that the black pashmina shawl that I have in my closet, is something I’ve borrowed…years ago! Whoops! I will be returning this to its rightful owner today.
(A small “something borrowed” but it’s the only thing I could think of!)
Like a new movie?
My dear friend Katie (Mads’ most favorite godmother) is starring in a new movie, Around the Bay.
Katie wasn’t sure where this movie was going to end up at the time of filming, but she’s come to learn and share with all her friends that her movie debut will be at the San Jo filmfest, aka Cinequest, in a couple weeks!
I’m so excited and proud of her! And of course, can’t wait to see her flick!
What a neat idea to join a blog party!
Here’s my “something old”, a post from about 2 years ago, Let the Rollercoaster Ride Begin:
To answer a few questions…
[a] Unlike our wedding(s), we are not planning on having a baby shower in France. You’ll have to find another excuse for that vacation to Paris.
[b] We’re keeping the gender of the baby a surprise. Yes, I know that means we’ll have to make a double name list, but I’m sure that’s the least of our worries.
[c] I’m feeling just fine, aside from food aversions (mushrooms, pesto, roasted asparagus, to date), cravings for Egg McMuffins (or just food in general), a constantly bloated tummy, flatulence (and the other fun stuff that accompanies it), and ta-tas that have almost doubled in size, I am feeling just fine. 🙂
[d] Yes, I really am pregnant and am not “letting myself goâ€, as my mom had previously thought. (Gee, thanks!)
August is how many months away?
After my first prenatal visit when my ObGyn gave me the due date in August, it seemed so far off in the distance. Now, after breaking the news to people, August isn’t as far away I thought/hoped. This weekend, S & I are going to start window shopping for baby furniture and probably start making lists (yay! I LOVE making lists!) galore!
My family and friends that are new mommies are being a tremendous help by loaning books, giving me advice on taking leave (this whole disability / FMLA stuff is super confusing), what stroller / car seat to register for, double action breast pumps (S got a big laugh out of this one). It’s been great. My friend Dani had put together a general list of what she wished knew before, what’s she learned and what really works for her. To her list, I’m adding the advice I get from others and what actually works for me. I think it’s a grand idea and look forward to adding my 2 cents.
(Gulp!) This means Madison will be 2y this coming August! Where does the time go?
Though I will support either Democratic candidate in the November election, I’m pulling for this person.
Irregardless of party affliation, this video-speech is darn right…moving.
So moving, that if I watch it again, I will start crying.
Go vote, if you haven’t already.
(Yah, yah – going a bit mad with the videos.)
Football season came and went. When a local team (ahem, the SF 49ers) isn’t in the running, I usually don’t bother. This year wasn’t any different, but I did TiVo the event for the commercials. I tuned in at the beginning and again (thankfully) at the end. This game. This game was worth however hundreds, thousands of $$$ people paid for tickets.
I tend to be pretty supportive of local folk, that includes San Mateo’s own Serra Padre-bred Tom Brady (though he did go to a rival high school). But since he’s proved to be a (somewhat) dead-beat babby daddy (a la Billy Crudup, dumping pregnant gf Mary Louise Parker for Claire Danes), I was throwing MY support for the NY Giants.
Those last 2-3 minutes, I was commenting loudly at the tv and am pretty sure I jumped up in excitement when NY scored the winning touchdown. All with a margarita in tact. That takes talent, my friend.
Of course, my daughter thought I was just plain silly.

Speaking of the little dear…her new “thing” is talking on the telephone. Thankfully, we haven’t had the SFPD stop by to respond to a baby-dialed 911 call. She will take the handset hold it to her ear/rest it on her shoulder and say “ayo?” or something that sounds like hello.
Yes, her shirt is on backwards and for the record, daddy dressed her that morning 😉

Lucie’s been going out with a new playgroup the past couple weeks. I thought we would be able to manage, but she needed these outings as much as we did. I was a little nervous when the field manager said that they transport the dogs to and from in crates. Um, yah. Lucie doesn’t DO crates. It just doesn’t. She won’t. So, imagine my surprise when I called last week to see how she was doing – she’s adapting to the crate just fine. I was also a bit nervous, because according to her previous dog walker, she said that she didn’t integrate well due to her alpha behavior. “Oh, Lucie’s integrating wonderfully. She was doing well by the 2nd or 3rd outing.” Huh. So, hopefully this will work out for all of us for a long time. (I think the crating in the car and small group size – no more than 6 pooches – made a difference.) Keep your fingers crossed!
I succumbed and signed up for a UToob account…and now Kellybean has video! (in an indirect way)
Here’s Lucie!
