- didn’t realize until late yesterday that it was mardi gras – no wonder i stuffed myself yesterday.
I was rifling through my closet the other day, trying to figure out what shoes to wear – always the case, I know – and decided upon my brown heels. Since my day didn’t include a lot of meetings, I figure the heels would be fine because I wasn’t going to have walk all over the campus. Yah, not so, my feet were KILLING me by 10am! Oh how longed to slip into my Adidas flip flops. I’m going to have to follow my own advice and just deal – I mean, I can’t wear pumas everywhere!
Are you a Hipster Parent?
I know I’m not – not a full fledged grup anyways. Though I subject baby Mads to Justin Timberlake, Fergie (she loves it when you call her “Maddielicious”), the Beatles and Asian Undergound (Asian in the UK-sense; she loves this too!) and more, she does get her dose of both English and French preschool songs (remember “Say Say O Playmate”?), Raffi and the Laurie Berkner Band. I am tempted to buy the lullaby-ized Coldplay, Radiohead and Nirvana albums, though.
I may have rambled on about this before my big 3-oh (or not)…just because I’m in my 30s doesn’t mean that I can’t watch MTV/VH1 anymore and just because I’m pushing that stroller around, doesn’t mean I need to change my wardrobe. Shopping knows no boundaries – if I see a cute top in the juniors section and it fits, of course I’m going to buy it.
There’s been a lot of chatter in the – I can’t believe I’m going to use this word – BLOGOSPHERE and here and here about this. I think that it’s been blown out of proportion, honestly. If peeps are going to raise and dress themselves and their kids a certain way, who are we to criticize?

Toob: I’ve only had time to see Heroes this week (which wasn’t all that it was hyped to be last week) and I’m losing / have lost interest in 24 (how many terrorist attacks can LA handle?). On the lineup (if the DVR recorded them): Rome, Lost, Ugly Betty and Grey’s Anatomy.
Side note
Mads has an audiobook of children’s tales (The Three Billy Goats Gruff, The Three Little Pigs, Rumplestilskin, The Tiger and the Brahmin and the Ugly Duckling – all read by celebs) and from time to time we listen to the stories while we’re playing in her room. Um, hello? – the wolf ate the first two little pigs?! I must have been given the abridged version – I thought that the first two little pigs escaped the wolf to move into the brick home with the 3rd little pig.
…have been difficult. Nothing out of hand, of course. Manageable, but difficult. Yah, so mama Kellybean is back at work. Sadly, everyone at work wants to talk about work and not baby Mads. Go figure. I have the slideshow ready go on my iPod if anyone is willing, though. And if you want to see some video, I’ve got the link…and…
We’re nearing the 6-month mark and have started introducing solid foods. Mads loves the ORGANIC apples and is eating from a spoon like a pro. Unfortunately, with this solid food thing also comes the changing of the poop. In one word: nasty. Are you sure she can’t survive on breastmilk/formula until she’s potty trained?
