My actual birthday was pretty nice…I left work a tad bit early, made a stop at Trader Joe’s and headed home. After taking Lucie out, I cleaned up a bit and started making pizzas (the place I wanted pizza from doesn’t deliver to my hood – boo!): a pizza margherita and a pesto / feta combo (as requested by my mom since I can’t stand pesto right now and shouldn’t be eating feta cheese now). My friends Yoli and Dani came over to chat, dine on pizza and partake in cake and ice cream. Dani had brought Hershel with her, so he and Lucie got a little playtime that evening.
Though ALL my presents were just fabulous – S gave me the most fab of them all: tickets to Madonna’s upcoming show in SanHo. He’s taking one for the team and going with me – though I’ve got two volunteers who have offered to go in his place. 🙂 Of my top 3 favorite music peeps – she’s the only one that I haven’t seen live. I’m pretty excited!!! In no way did I think that I’d be going to see Madonna – um, let’s see here…I’ll be 28 weeks pregnant!
Peanut update
Speaking of Peanut…I think that Peanut’s gone through a major growth spurt! Sad to say…I feel huge. Ginormous! Very very pregnant. My belly button is on the verge of popping out.
S has started re-doing the nursery-to-be. After an overzealous sanding and prepping session, he ended up having to re-plaster so that the paint wouldn’t be absorbed by the drywall. Peanut and I really appreciate what he’s doing. I definitely think that we’ll try to recruit some friends to help with the painting to ease his workload.
Peanut’s been moving quite a bit the past couple days. Strangely enough, I feel more movement when I’m at my desk typing. Of course, this news makes S happy because, the sound of the keyboard is somehow stimulating Peanut, so Peanut must be geared to be a computer geek like his/her father. 😉
Mazel Tov!
This weekend, S & I attended our first bar mitzvah ceremony. It was a nice service and we were pleasantly surprised that the service was so celebratory and interactive (it was held during the Saturday am Shabbat service, I think). It’s a far cry from a first communion or confirmation ceremony. There were printed out “guides” for us gentiles understand the ceremony. Afterwards there was a luncheon with very yummy cupcakes!
More baby related stuff…
Ah! Only 2 1/2 months more of work. Still a bit excited, nervous – but I’m sure that we’ll be just fine. If my apartment-renting younger cousin can do it, I can do it too! Right?
Theta love must be flowing these days…I’m due in August, Niki is getting married in August, Jen M. and Yolanda S. are due in either September/October and GCW is due in November! Oh and our neighbors across the street, not a Theta, but they’re expecting a second child this September! Peanut will hopefully have a playmate!
