Yes, snow in San Francisco. On a beautiful 80 degree day nonetheless.

The big event of today is the ski jumping event on a man-prepped snow covered hill in PacHeights. Residents are besides themselves that the city could let this happen. I, for one, think it’s a cool thing. (Just let it be said that PacHeights is home to a lot of…how shall I say…snooty…people. ) I’m just bummed I couldn’t be there to catch it live.
Three posts in one day?! Crazy, I know! Can you handle it?
I think it goes that there are at most six degrees of separation between you and someone famous…ya?
So here are my two celebrity connections for today.
#1: Charlize Theron – 1 degree
My high school, junior year English teacher, Mr. Steve McFeely, was one of the writers of The Life and Death of Peter Sellers, which starred Charlize Theron as Britt Eckland…and there you go! He won an emmy this past sunday, by the way! I believe that he’s penning the screenplay for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
#2: Paula Abdul – 4 degrees
So, I was flipping through People magazine when I flipped out and actually recognized Paula Abdul’s current boy toy. Didn’t surprise me that this guy turned out to be a model and aspiring actor…it does surprise me that he got accepted to UCSD. Anyway, I digress. Paula’s new boy toy, Dante Spencer was a friend of a friend of my college roommate’s…and there you go again!
Probably not one of my greater posts – but it is mind-numbing to the crazy week I’ve been having!
This song can basically sum up how work has been for me the past 6+ weeks. It’s mad crazy busy for me…but, I actually enjoy the mad, crazy busy. I am for once (in a looong time) enjoying my job again! Who’d’ve thought?
So…since I last left you:
*Sylvain and I hosted a small gathering of friends (thanks to D&G, S&A for joining us!) to watch the season premiere of The OC. Which led us to watch 2/3 of the new show, Reunion – don’t waste your time.
*For the hell of it, I joined the boys’ poker game that Friday, and came away with +$30. It was quite exciting since I had never really even won the pot before – the cards were very nice to me that night.
*Reluctant to fulfill ALL of our homeowner responsibilities, S and I swallowed our pride, laziness, whatever, and weeded our sidewalks. Yes, folks, our sidewalks! They look nice and neat tho – compared to the rest of the block. Round-up is my new best friend. (We woke up the following morning to sore legs and bums – who thought weeding would be so strenuous?)
*Our friends, Niki and Bill, Dani and Alex and their pooch Hershel came over for a BBQ dinner. Lucie was pretty happy to see her friend again – and I was happy to finally gather the girls together after a long while!
*My mom celebrated a birthday this past weekend and we celebrated with brunch at Catch and window shopping a walk up 24th street.
I wish I could say that I look forward to the weekends, but even those are busy with errands and such. I’m more than ready for a vacation. I’m not asking for much, I just need the following: my husband, warm to hot weather, sandy beach, pool, fruity alcoholic beverages with umbrellas, fluffy white Frette robes and good food. I’m not asking for too much am I?
and I mean that in every sense! Of course, we’re talking about the original waif queen, Kate Moss.
She’s been dropped from H&M, now Burberry and Chanel have released her from her contract. I think her net worth is down from 30M GBP to about a few pesos now.
(If you’ve been living under a rock, Miss Kate was caught on a cell phone video doing lines with a 5-note.)
You know what they say about the people that have the least? They are the most likely to give back and help others in their time of need.
So, if you’re looking where you can unload a few dollars, euros or pesos to help those in the gulf region, check these sites out*:
The Red Cross
What they provide: shelter, food, and counseling.
AmeriCares
What they provide: relief shipments of cleaning supplies, personal hygiene products, and other basics.
America’s Second Harvest
What they provide: hunger relief.
They also need: donations of food, transportation, and products (bottled water, utensils, bleach, disinfecting household cleaning items, and diapers).
Louisiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
What they provide: food and shelter for pets that have been separated from their owners.

A little late in posting…but it’s never too late to help those who need it most.
It’s Labor Day – which means it is finally summer in SF! After starting the long weekend with foggy days and chilly nights, today looks like it’s going to be a fabulous day!
It’s been a hellish past two weeks, but all is well now at Chez Rebaud.
Last weekend, S, Lucie and I rented a home and spent the weekend in Santa Cruz. My dear maman, our friends Joseph, Deb, their two boys, Julien, his wife, Fred, Gilles, his wife, Vera and their son joined us for some fun in the sun (and in the pool, and on the beach…)
Even Lucie took in some waves!

Last week, my dear friend Yoli and I went to see Wicked – a musical that tells the story of the beginnings of the The Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the good witch. You start to question if Glinda really was the good witch and will look at The Wizard of Oz in a whole new light. It was a fabulous musical and if you have the chance to check it out – do so!
So to follow up on a previous entry – as you may or may not know, S and I have been shopping for a car for, what seems like forever. Our little VW Golf was on its last few breaths…well, to make a long story short. Here’s a pic of our new car!!!
Isn’t it cool?
The sad part of the story was that the dealer first offered S only $100 for the Golf. So sad. :o(
Well, we’re off to enjoy the rest of our long weekend. Hope yours is a labor-free day!
