Sylvain & I saw the funniest movie recently: Napoleon Dynamite. It’s an off-beat-‘80s-reminiscent (Sixteen Candles, comes to mind)-independent flick that has garnered a cult-following. Though a few lines were given away by the annoying person that sat behind us, we were still able to enjoy the movie. Ch-check it out if you can for not only off-beat humor, but for the moon boots, the red ‘fro and the funky white boy dance. Yesssss!
We also started working on the room downstairs – making minor renovations to make it more comfortable when the contractors start working on the main bath upstairs. Saturday, we spent most of the time just removing layers and layers and layers of contact paper. The previous owner thought that the sticky contact paper wouldn’t stick, so she secured everything with thumb tacks! We also removed the built-in chest that was in the closet. Sunday, was a big day! We went to Home Depot and bought paint, miscellaneous supplies and a new toilet. Then, we went to Lowe’s and purchased Edge flooring for the bathroom, a new showerhead, and…brand spanking NEW kitchen appliances!! A new fridge, gas range, microwave / hood combo, and the mama of them all …the dishwasher! I have to say that Lowe’s is pretty quick – we were expecting the appliances in 2, maybe 3 weeks. Nope. They’ll be delivered sometime next week and they’ll take away all of the old appliances!! Which means we need to bust our butts to lay the new floor before then! It’s going to be a long and tiring week!
The painters should be done today and the hardwood floor man is starting tomorrow. With the paint, the house looks so much better. I can’t wait to see what it will look like when the carpets are removed and the floors refinished.
In the middle of all this – I need to start packing. Are we kidding!? At least we’re planning to hire movers this time around.
