Hope y’all had a nice Labor Day weekend. It was another sweltering couple days in the Bay Area. Not a trace of fog…we woke up to beautiful mornings and enjoyed the comfortable evenings. According to the weather reports, it should be like this for another 3 days.
Well, today, the painters arrived at 8.30a and started chipping away the old paint and plastering and caulking the cracks. So, we should have a newly painted interior by the end of the week – how exciting! I just hope that I’m happy with the colors that we chose.
We spent the weekend meeting window people and shopping for appliances – it’s all very mind-boggling. I know it’s early in the whole renovation / remodeling process, but they’re all looking the same to me.
Monday, Sylvain & I treated ourselves to spa treatments at the Kabuki Springs & Spa in J-town. I had the Javanese Lulur Body Treatment. Sounds exotic, huh? It was absolutely fabulous and I highly recommend it! It begins with a massage with Jasmine scented oil, then followed with Lulur, a tumeric & rice exfoliant, continued with a yogurt (yes, plain yogurt) application to moisturize and ended with a rose petal bath in a furo tub. The massage therapist informed me that this was an ancient Balinese practice prior to a wedding. The bride would receive this treatment once a day, 40 days prior to the (arranged) marriage. Once a day for 40 days? I wouldn’t mind one bit. Especially if the body treatment took place here. (I hear that Princess Buttercup indulges in this treatment at Kabuki all the time.)
